Anne McLucas will step down as dean of the School of Music this fall to be replaced by Brad Foley, who is currently the dean of the school of music at East Carolina University.
McLucas is leaving the post as dean to pursue research in Scotland as a Fulbright distinguished scholar. Foley has been at East Carolina University for 23 years, seven of which he served as dean.
“The University of Oregon has a wonderful faculty, outstanding students and alumni,” Foley said in a press release. “Through our work together, my dream is to make this program one of the finest in the nation.”
Foley’s musical specialties are in the oboe and saxophone and he has presented more than 350 solo and chamber music performances.
In his position of leadership at East Caroline University, Foley increased private gift support by 300 percent and grant support by 68 percent, for a total of $4.8 million in additional investment. The music school also increased scholarships by 50 percent.
