Five days ago, Oregon volleyball rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win three straight sets and defeat George Washington. Although it was a great team effort for the Ducks, it was a rough night for the Colonials.
Fast forward to Saturday and the Ducks were involved in another comeback effort, but this time they felt the same sting they inflicted on the Colonials.
After taking a 2-0 lead over No. 4 Nebraska, the Cornhuskers rallied back with three consecutive set victories for the 3-2 (21-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 15-12) win.
The Ducks played great in the first two sets, keeping Nebraska off balance with an inside-outside attack. Freshman Lindsey Vander-Weide played well, notching 10 kills in the first two sets to help Oregon hit .324 and .286 in the sets.
Oregon came out aggressive in the third set, but Nebraska came out even stronger. The Cornhuskers were able to establish a rhythm and turn the tide with a two-point win.
The fourth set saw both teams trade the lead multiple times but Nebraska pulled it off in the end, sending the match to a fifth and final set.
Both teams battled in the fifth set and saw the game tied at 12 before Nebraska pulled away for the win, scoring the final three points.
Vander-Weide led Oregon with 20 kills while Martenne Bettendorf and Taylor Agost each added 12. Maggie Scott dished out 51 assists while Amanda Benson added 21 digs.
