University economics major Alex Atkins died Sunday night from injuries sustained Saturday evening after Atkins fell from a rooftop on 18th Avenue and Harris Street.
Police received a call at 7:09 p.m. Saturday, and emergency crews took the 22-year-old to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend, according to Lane County Medical Examiner.
“It looks like alcohol may have been a factor in this accident,” said Jenna McCulley, spokesperson for Eugene Police Department. “It doesn’t appear to be anything suicidal. It seems it was an accident.”
According to Kristina Lekas@@http://directory.uoregon.edu/ws-directory-client/directory.jsp@@, an acquaintance who is working on putting together a memorial for Atkins, his family came up from California and was able to be in the hospital all day with him before he died. They will be here at least until tomorrow.
