he Duck Store is one of the few independent, nonprofit college bookstores in the nation committed to providing textbooks at competitive prices to the community. It is under this mission that our organization has been successful in serving students, faculty and staff since our store’s founding and will continue to act as stewards of service to our customers.
However, as the textbook industry becomes increasingly variable in the products it offers to college bookstores, the UO Duck Store is constantly searching for ways to save students money. Over the past few years our organization has implemented point-of-sale savings and a number of book awards every term to help increase the affordability of a college education. Looking into the future, the concept of establishing a permanent legacy endowment poses as the best next step further curbing the cost of textbooks.
In such a proposal, members of the Eugene and University Community, including alumni, students, faculty and staff, could donate to an endowment fund that would help curb the costs of textbooks. Donations made to such a fund would become a legacy gift because only revenue earned from interest would be awarded to UO students.
We are very excited about the prospect of offering more book awards and increased point-of-sale discounts to hard-working students. Please join us in extending support to bring this plan to life.
