Hard to believe, but it’s track time again.
The Oregon men’s and women’s track and field teams split paths to open their indoor seasons this weekend.
The women will compete at the Eugene Indoor at the Lane County Fairgrounds from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday. Masters competitors will also be in action during that time.
On the list of women’s entrants are sprinter Endia Abrante in the 50 and 300 meters, Janette Davis in the 600, Jenny Kenyon in the long jump, shot put and high jump, Mary Etter in the shot put, Holly Speight in the pole vault and Maureen Morrison in the weight throw.
The men will likely send 11 entrants to compete at the Northwest Open in St. Paul, Minn. The meet is hosted by Minnesota.
The men’s active list this weekend includes Foluso Akinradewo in the long jump, Jason Boness in the high jump, Jake Garlick in the 60-meter hurdles and 4X400-meter relay, Cody Howell in the pole vault, Kyley Johnson in the high jump, Ross Krempley in the 600 and 4X400, Santiago Lorenzo in the pole vault and 60-meter hurdles, and Billy Pappas in the same events.
The Ducks will alter their week-to-week travel roster throughout the indoor season, based on training levels and strength of competition.
After this weekend, the men travel to the Northern Iowa Invitational from Jan. 26-27, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, while the women compete at the Portland Indoor/Great Northwest Classic on Sunday, Jan. 28, in Portland.
