Oregon Daily Emerald: You were a pitcher in high school, do you think you could strike out quarterback Dennis Dixon, a decent baseball player in his own right?
Geoff Schwartz: (laughs) Back when I was doing it, I think I could. I had confidence in myself. I threw anywhere from 87-89 (MPH) and hit 90 a few times.
ODE: Did being from Los Angeles make the victory against UCLA any sweeter?
Schwartz: I have a long history with them. Both my parents went there, and I’ve been to every game since I was five. We had a little cough-up during recruiting with them, so it was a little personal and it was great to win that game.
ODE: What is the worst movie you’ve ever seen?
Schwartz: We watched Poseidon on the plane like two weeks ago going to Cal. I thought that was horrible.
ODE: What’s the best locker room prank?
Schwartz: You can sort of tie the locker shut with a string and close it so the locker doesn’t open. Or you can spray the locker shut with some sticky stuff so it doesn’t open either. That’s pretty messed up. I’ve heard of people cutting clothes.
ODE: What’s your favorite video game?
Schwartz: I play NCAA football (never with the Ducks) and MVP Baseball.
ODE: How often do people talk trash to a guy that’s 6 foot 7, 359-pounds?
Schwartz: Oh, all the time. It makes no difference.
ODE: What is the easiest class you’ve taken and what’s the hardest class you’ve taken?
Schwartz: The easiest are these substance abuse prevention classes. The toughest? I took a comparative politics online class.
