Thom Yorke presents Radiohead fans with his solo album “The Eraser,” which lets listeners float away to another place. Each song is unique on this album and is pleasant to the ear. There is nothing grand or sweeping about “The Eraser,” rather it relies on Yorke’s ability to craft a masterful song that is strong and dreamy.
Radiohead isn’t known for its pop ballads like Coldplay is; it has always been more experimental and less mainstream. Yet “The Eraser” has some flashes of what Coldplay might sound like if it loosened up a bit and departed from its generic songs.
Strange beats and ticks are sprinkled throughout this album, giving it a great deal of depth. As always, Yorke’s voice is both haunting and soothing. Radiohead fans will appreciate his attempt at this solo album and newcomers who like electronica will embrace this album for its versatility.
