The Oregon track and field teams are competing in their final weekend of indoor competition this weekend at the University of Washington in the Dempsey Indoor Center.
The Ducks have tentatively sent 21 men and 27 women including sprinters, jumpers and distance throwers.
Top competitors include sophomore Rebekah Noble, Britney Henry, Lauryn Jordan, Brian Richotte, Dana Buchanan, Irie Searcy, Shadrack Kiptoo-Biwott, Galen Rupp, Emily Enders, Kasey Harwood, Michael McGrath and Kalindra McFadden.
Oregon has multiple athletes ranked in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation’s event seedings including a few Ducks listed No. 1 in their respective events – Rupp in the 5,000 meters, the 4×400 relay of Phillip Alexander, Marcus Dillon, Chad Barlow and Ashton Eaton and Richotte in the weight throw.
Also this weekend, Oregon senior Tommy Skipper is competing in the USA Indoor Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston.
Skipper, a four-time NCAA champion, sits tied for second on the NCAA collegiate qualifying list with a season best and NCAA qualifying mark of 18-1 that he set at the Husky Classic two weeks ago in Seattle.
In his event, Skipper faces two other collegians including McNeese State’s Brad Gebauer, last week’s collegiate leader at 18-foot-4 1/2. Gebauer ranks fifth among Americans and Skipper sits at eighth in the U.S. indoors for 2007.
