The Oregon men’s golf team received the sixth seed in the Lake Merced Regional that will be played May 14-16, the NCAA said Monday.
The tournament is the precursor to the NCAA Championships, and will take place in Daly City, Calif.
Oregon will join three other Pacific-10 Conference schools at the regional, including third-ranked USC, which won the top seed, No. 15 Arizona State with the third seed and Oregon State as the 11th of 13 teams playing at the regional. The other teams at the regional include No. 13 Texas A&M, No. 22 San Diego State, UC Davis, New Mexico, Colorado, UC Irvine, Kansas State, San Diego and San Francisco.
This year is the first year after the NCAA changed the way it organizes the regionals, expanding to six from three regionals while keeping the overall field the same.
Washington earned the No. 1 seed at the Bowling Green, Ky., regional and Stanford will go into Austin, Texas, as the top seed.
