Eugene police did not file a report for an alleged break-in at Kappa Delta early Sunday morning.
An anonymous source provided the Emerald with a copy of e-mails sent to sorority members at the University, stating that a man entered the Kappa Delta house “Saturday night due to a faulty door,” walked onto the sleeping porch, removed his pants and got into bed with a woman.
The e-mail, sent from Kappa Delta President Emily Escobosa, reports that the woman was able to get away from the man without any contact and “he left after she yelled at him to leave.”
Eugene police responded to a call at the Kappa Delta house at 1680 Alder St. around 4 a.m. on Sunday, May 24. The dispatch log filed the incident under “suspicious conditions.”
Eugene Police Department public information specialist Jenna LaBounty confirmed that no police report was filed.
Escobosa’s e-mail states that “the police came to the house that night to ensure that he was no longer in the house.”
LaBounty said the police noted that they were unable to locate anyone at the time and they decided that “no crime had been committed.”
No one at Kappa Delta could be reached for comment.
The only description included in the e-mail is that the man appeared to be in his 20s or 30s.
This incident is another in a string of recent sexually charged incidents near campus.
Following two indecent exposure incidents and a sexual assault that occurred Monday, May 18, the Department of Public Safety issued an alert to University students Friday afternoon of a sexual assault incident that occurred outside the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house at East 15th Avenue and Alder Street on Thursday night.
The incident occurred at approximately 11 p.m. when a University student reported that an unknown male exposed himself and made unwanted physical contact with her, according to the alert.
The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s with light blond hair cut in a buzz-cut style and a round face. He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark blue baseball cap with a gray visor, a plaid shirt and a blue, collared jacket and dark blue jeans.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the EPD tip line at 682-8888 or DPS at 346-2919.
