Who: Gonzaga (29-14-1, 12-3 West Coast Conference) at Oregon (26-24-1, 7-14 Pacific-10 Conference)
What: Nonconference baseball series
Where: PK Park
When: Game 1 — 6 p.m. Tuesday; game 2 — 1 p.m. Wednesday
Summary: Despite a series win against Stanford over the weekend, Oregon doesn’t have much room for error. The Ducks might need to win out to have any shot at qualifying for the NCAA Tournament, and even then, it would be no sure bet. Nevertheless, Oregon has been playing better, particularly on offense. The Ducks have had five straight games of at least 10 hits. Gonzaga also comes into the pair of midweek games playing well. The Bulldogs have won seven of their past eight games, including a recent three-game sweep of a Portland team that has given Oregon its fair share of trouble over the past few seasons.
Key Stats: While Oregon’s pitching staff can compete with any in the nation, Gonzaga has a significant advantage in the power department. Cameron Edman leads the Bulldogs with nine home runs, and five starters have slugging percentages of .400 or higher. Oregon, on the other hand, only has three players on its entire roster with slugging percentages north of .400. And no Duck hitter has more than three home runs this year.@@http://www.gozags.com/sports/m-basebl/sched/gonz-m-basebl-sched.html@@
