Why are you attending UO?

I chose this school because the archaeology program is really good, and Pathway Oregon made it possible for me to go here. 

How/why do you want to change the world?

I want to make archaeology and the sciences more accessible to people, and create more public involvement in those fields. Training the next generation of archaeologists would be really cool. 

What has been the best part of your college experience?

Definitely going to field school last summer. The University of Oregon has an archaeological field school in Oregon. It was the coolest experience of my life. We had really good training to become better archaeologists- a lot of attention to detail and site formation methods. It completely jump-started my career, and since then I have been to two conferences and received a research grant. 

What are you proud to have been involved with at UO?

I work as an exhibit all interpreter at the Museum of Natural and Cultural History. I talk to the general public, and I get to answer any questions that they have. It’s really cool seeing young kids that are interested in science. It’s really interactive and family-friendly, so it’s an awesome environment to be in. 

What are some of your goals after college?

I definitely want to go to graduate school. 

Who’s your biggest role model/influencer?

I know that everyone says this, but itís my mom. She completed her undergraduate degree and went to law school all while raising four kids on her own. She doesn’t let anything get in her way, and if she has a goal, she goes for it. 

Which fictional character is most like yourself?

A mix between Leslie Knope and April Ludgate from Parks and Rec. 

What is one fun fact about you? 

I grew up in Texas and had horses, and people don’t expect that. Also, as an archaeologist, I study poop.
