On June 24, Portland Mayor Keith Wilson proclaimed June and July as Portland’s Pride Months, recognizing that the LGBTQIA+ community has deeply impacted the city and its roots. The proclamation also encouraged Portlanders to celebrate anywhere and everywhere. Here are the main celebrations Portland has to offer for the month of July:
On July 5, from 2 to 7 p.m., Portland Pride will host a community market and garage sale. The event will take place just past the Burnside Bridge, near the downtown Portland Voodoo Doughnut at 10 NW Fifth Ave.
TUFF: Pride With Horse Meat Disco
TUFF, a leather and fetish party, is coming to Portland for the first time to kick off Pride festivities on July 17 at the Crystal Ballroom from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
On Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, Portland hosts its annual Pride festival and parade. Although the main event will take place at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park, businesses like Sports Bra will be hosting their own events. Additionally, Portlanders can enjoy Ankeny Alley’s Pride Block Party from 1 to 6 p.m. both days.
Saturday’s events begin at noon and go into Sunday with Gaylabration’s Radiance at the Crystal Ballroom lasting until 3 a.m. Just a few hours later, the Portland Pride Parade kicks off at the North Park Blocks at 11 a.m., ending at the Waterfront Park by 2 p.m.
In traditional Portland fashion, the World Naked Bike Ride will take place on July 26, with no start time or location revealed yet. The annual tradition fills the street with naked bodies and costumes as far as the eye can see.
