After averaging 24 points and 19.5 rebounds through two games, Oregon forward Jillian Alleyne was named Pac-12 player of the week on Monday morning.
The honor is Alleyne’s fourth-career player of the week honor and the 42nd overall for the Oregon program.
Alleyne posted double-doubles against San Jose State and Utah Valley, extending her own Pac-12 record to 23 straight. She’s the only player in the NCAA with a double-double in each game.
“I feel like recently, ever since the last game (SJSU), a switch turned on for me,” Alleyne said after UO’s win over Utah Valley. “I just know what I need to be and who I need to be for my teammates, so I’m trying to bring that every game.
“Coach (Nicole) Powell is always talking to me about consistency, so that’s definitely what I’m trying to maintain.”
She shot 12-for-17 from the field, good for 26 points, and grabbed 20 rebounds against SJSU. It was the ninth 20-rebound game of her career.
Against Utah Valley, Alleyne had 22 points and 19 rebounds, plus three blocks.
Alleyne also shot a combined 72 percent from the field in the two games. She’s helped the Ducks to a 7-0 start, the program’s best since 2004-2005.
