The Eugene city council passed a motion Wednesday to unanimously nominate Jenny Haruyama as the city manager.
The city council began interviews for the open city manager position in December, and announced the three finalists on Jan. 6. The final interview process started on Jan 12., with candidates meeting partnered businesses and institutions. A final public interview was held on Jan. 13 in the City Council Chamber.
Haruyama was elected to be the city manager of Beaverton in 2021 during the Beaverton Charter Change, which moved the position of administrative head from the mayor to the city manager and city council.
Haruyama is a graduate from San Jose University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and has a Master’s of Public Administration from California State University Hayward.
The California native has over 25 years of experience in local government, previously working as the assistant city manager of Livermore, and the city manager of Scotts Valley and Tracy.
