On Jan. 30, Assistant Vice President for Students and Belonging at the University of Oregon’s Portland campus Dr. Sarah Kutten announced that Central Catholic High School will manage the campus fields complex. The announcement came after five years of uncertainty surrounding the fields.
Kutten wrote in an email that Central Catholic High School was selected following a “competitive public procurement process.” The new management role will include providing security staff, installing new turf and rebranding the field from its current Concordia University branding.
Although Central Catholic High School will use the field seasonally for high school sports, students and staff will continue to have recreational access. The fields will undergo renovations during the summer, while gymnasium renovations will continue as scheduled, with an expected completion date this spring.
“We look forward to seeing the complex come alive with youth and community activities, and we appreciate your patience as we work through logistics and details with Central Catholic High School,” Kutten wrote in the email.
