Oregon women’s basketball (22-12, 8-10 Big Ten) received the 8-seed in the Austin, Texas Region of the NCAA Tournament and will take on the 9-seeded Virginia Tech Hokies (23-9, 12-6 ACC) in the round-of-64. The Ducks’ first game in March Madness will tip-off on Friday.
With a win, Oregon will play the winner of the 1-seeded Texas vs. 16-seeded Missouri State/SF Austin.
Last time out, Oregon struggled against a rested Michigan team in the Big Ten Tournament while playing its third game in as many days. However, the Ducks did plenty during the regular season to earn their seeding, most notably beating Maryland twice.
The Ducks made the national tournament in 2021 and 2022 before missing the tournament in 2023 and 2024. Oregon upset Vanderbilt in the round of 64 last season before losing to then-second-seeded Duke.
