On March 25, President Donald Trump’s administration was granted a temporary block to a recent ruling that limited when ICE agents in Portland use excessive force. The temporary block will allow ICE agents to resume the use of tear gas, pepper balls and HC smoke.
The decision was made by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals with a three-judge panel voting 2-1, allowing the block. In addition to this change, the two cases that were originally brought on separately seem to have been consolidated.
This decision was announced merely 3 days before several “No Kings” demonstrations are scheduled to take place around Portland. The next hearing is scheduled for April 7, allowing the temporary block to last just under two weeks.
