Take a Minute is a daily post that will catch you up on Internet happenings on campus and around the world.
How much are your pictures worth? As long as they’re Instagrams, Facebook thinks they’re worth at least more than a thousand words. The social-media giant just purchased the San Francisco startup for $1 billion (you read that right) in cash and stock. While I don’t presume to know what they want to do with it, the move is pretty unprecedented even in the world of boom-or-bust startups. Some reactions on Twitter:
Did the guys who owned Instagram post a picture of themselves dumping their girlfriends for models?

Okay, death of photography, check. What’s next on the docket?

A million dollars isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? Filters. On. Everything.

Meanwhile, if you haven’t heard, Instaprint could further capitalize on the sale. Instaprint is basically a little box that hangs on the wall during a party or event and automatically prints out Polaroids of Instagrams taken in the area that are activated with a certain hashtag. Combined with Facebook’s ubiquity, who knows what the future of chronicling our lives in realtime will hold?
Don’t want to think that much? Just read Texts From My Dog. It’s a hilarious NSFW Tumblr posting text conversations with one of man’s best friends. For example:
Finally, I’ll leave you with a photo and a video of the day:
Photo of the Day:
Is this as depressing for you as it is for me? Amanda Bynes, that hilarious, beautiful girl who was at one point going to marry a second-grade me, has been picked up for a DUI and the mugshot is… Well, less than flattering. I hate growing up.

Video of the Day:
Nick Offerman from “Parks and Recreation” and Craig Robinson from “The Office” lay down the smack talk as respective Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox fans. This is New Era’s second round of baseball/NBC crossover commercials, with “The Office” star (and Red Sox fan) John Krasinski going toe-to-toe with “30 Rock” legend (and Yankess fan) Alec Baldwin.
