Oregon will hire Washington State’s Dave Yost as its quarterbacks coach, according to a report by FootballScoop.com.
FOX Sports also reported that Yost will join Oregon’s staff.
Yost worked under Washington State coach Mike Leach for the last three seasons. During his time at Washington State, the Cougars caught the most passes in Pac-12 single-season history twice, and in 2014, the Cougar offense led the nation in passing at 477.7 yards a game.
Before his time in Pullman, Yost spent 12 seasons at the University of Missouri. He began as quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator and then was promoted to offensive coordinator/assistant head coach for Gary Pinkel, who resigned after the 2015 season. At Missouri, he coached future NFL quarterbacks Brad Smith (Philadelphia), Chase Daniel (Kansas City) and Blaine Gabbert (San Francisco).
Duck head coach Mark Helfrich promoted wide receivers coach Matt Lubick to the offensive coordinator position before Oregon’s 47-41 Alamo Bowl loss to TCU. Offensive coordinator Scott Frost left the program after three years to become the head coach at the University of Central Florida and hired Oregon outside linebackers coach Erik Chinander to join him.
