Oregon women’s tennis finished the 2026 season 12-13, which was a 1.5 game improvement over last season, but not enough to qualify for the Big Ten or NCAA Tournaments. Once again, the biggest weakness for the Ducks was their Big Ten schedule. They were 8-3 entering their first Big Ten match, but went 3-10 in conference play to finish out the season.
Oregon’s biggest win of the season came in its only road win of the season, 4-2 against then-No. 41 Iowa. It was trailing 2-1 midway through singles when the three Ducks in the bottom of the lineup, Patsy Daughters, Hinata Furutani and Bridget Mihulka each won matches to pull off the upset. Other big wins included a 4-1 upset over then-No. 61 University of Denver in the Red Blue Invite in Tucson, Arizona, and a 4-0 shutout at home over then-No. 61 Washington State.
The last win of the season came in the final home match against Minnesota. Both teams battled down to the wire before Daughters, the Eugene native, took the final point for a 4-3 victory to snap a six match losing streak.
While the second half of the season brought a fair share of disappointment, there were also many moments of growth throughout the season. Virginia Crocker and Furutani, both true freshmen, made an immediate impact on the team, playing in all 25 matches. Crocker went 8-10 at the No. 3 spot in singles and 8-5 in doubles with Hadley Appling and Mihulka as partners. Furutani went 8-9 in singles and 11-6 in doubles alongside Juliet Santitto.
The Ducks had just one senior on the team in Olivia Symons, which means next year’s roster will have a lot of familiar faces. Symons had been on and off the court due to injuries over the course of her college career at Oregon and the University of Tennessee, but this season, she also played in all 25 matches. She went 8-9 at the No. 2 spot in singles, and 13-10 in the No. 1 doubles spot alongside Tilde Jagare.
Jagare will be the only senior on the team next year, and she already established herself as the team’s leader throughout. She and Symons finished the season as the No. 80 doubles pair in the country. In singles, Jagare spent the season at the top of the lineup and posted a record of 10-8. She will have a different partner in doubles next year, but we can still expect her to take the team another step closer to a tournament with another year of experience under her belt.
In the sophomore class, the Ducks had three players who appeared in more than 20 matches. Daughters finished 3-3 in doubles with Mihulka as a partner, and 9-6 in singles. Mihulka finished 5-6 in doubles between Crocker and Daughters, and went 13-7 in singles. Santitto only appeared in six singles matches, posting a 3-1 record. In doubles, she appeared in all but two matches and went 11-6 with Furutani.
Appling and Avery Jennings saw very limited time on the court and did not travel on any of the Big Ten road trips. Appling played 11 doubles matches with Crocker, going 6-2 and never played in singles. Jennings did not see the court at all in the regular season after suffering a hand injury and taking a red shirt. They will each look to step into bigger roles next season as the Ducks look to embrace another challenging Big Ten schedule.
