The rumors are true! If you know where to look, there are daily meal deals all over town. A cheap meal or drink is a great excuse to get out of the campus neighborhood and into some of the nicer places in town—just let this calendar be your guide. Get ready for the best week ever.
Mondays
Meatball Monday at Pastini
Mondays are…well, not comforting. Why not lighten the mood and enjoy some Italian comfort food at a discount? Pastini Pastaria in the Oakway Center offers their heavenly meatballs simmered in marinara over a big ol’ bowl of spaghetti (normally $14) for only $9.
Happy Hour All Night at Izakaya Meiji
Voted Best Restaurant by Eugene Weekly readers, Meiji has crave-worthy Japanese tapas for the best prices, which get even better on Mondays when you can order the happy hour menu all night long. Snack on chicken, shiitake or hanger steak skewers and a rice ball for under $10 and enjoy the candlelit bar and jukebox, all while sipping a Meiji Mule that’s just six bucks.
Tuesday
Burger & Brew at 6th Street Grill
There’s always a Burger & Brew special somewhere in Eugene, but 6th Street Grill’s is by far the best deal. Their $10 burger comes fully loaded with bacon, two types of cheese, avocado, grilled onion and portobello, along with your standard lettuce, tomato and mayo. Did I mention you can get cajun fries for no additional charge? The best part is the cold brew that comes with your meal—not to mention the 18 taps you have to choose from.
$2.50 Tuesday at Elk Horn Brewery
The Elk Horn’s got some seriously good food, but their beer is exceptional. They took home a bronze medal at the World Beer Awards for their oatmeal stout, and they’ve got 23 other house taps to choose from, including cider! Beers are just $2.50 each every Tuesday night. It’s the cheapest and best craft beer you’ll drink in Eugene, so grab your thirsty friends and go.
Wednesday
$8 Burgers at Falling Sky Brewpub
To qualify for this burger deal, you must be a broke GRAD student. But hey, it’s something to look forward to if you’re not. They serve a grass-fed, local beef burger with pub sauce, pickled onions and greens that comes with fries, chips, salad or coleslaw. Come for the burger, stay for the beer—they have one of the broadest selections in town, and a great atmosphere.
85 Cent Wings at Hot Mama’s
Want an excuse to try the best wings in Eugene? Hot Mama’s just won the Register-Guard readers’ choice award, and it’s easy to taste why. Wednesday is the day to go, when for under $7 you can get 8 juicy, saucy, free-range wings. It doesn’t get better than that.
Thursday
Burger & Two Brews for $12 at The Vintage
Feeling extra thirsty? This burger and brew special addresses the fact that one beer isn’t always enough. Burger purists will love this classic with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles accompanied by none other than shoestring fries. When you’re done with those, try one of their 14 highly enjoyable craft cocktails, or choose from four equally good mocktails. Okay, not entirely equal…but you can pretend.
Agate Alley Drink Wheel
Who? You and your friends. What? $2 drink specials (or $3 with a card). Where? Agate Alley Bistro. When? 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Thursdays. How often? Every 30 minutes. Why? Because making decisions by spinning a wheel is what we all feel like doing once Thursday night rolls around.
Friday
Friday is a happy time. Why not kiss the week goodbye and head out to a happy hour? Here are three worth being punctual for.
3-5 p.m.
Happy Hour at Chula’s
Get into fiesta mode and choose from hard or soft taco plates, a burrito, enchiladas or nachos, with a variety of meats to choose from, for only $5 each! There are also several happy hour cocktails available.
3-6 p.m.
Happy Hour at The Cannery
You can get a special menu of small plates, all for $4 – $6. It’s got everything from a kale caesar and falafel salads to a basket of shoestring fries or a plate of wings, so you can be fresh and healthy or purely happy (or both for only $10!)
3-7 p.m.
Happy Hour at The Barn Light
This is a great place to watch the world go by, all to the tune of $6 creative cocktails like the Hemingway Daiquiri, Jarritos Paloma and Pisco Sour, or $4 and $5 snacks from biscuits with gravy to a classic beer cheese pretzel dip. Beer and wine is $2 off, and there’s pinball, foosball, shuffleboard and just the right ambiance.
Saturday
Food Vendors at Eugene Saturday Market
Possibly the greatest weekly special of all, the pop-up vendors at the market offer everything from curried chicken to burritos to falafel wraps, which are some of the best found outside New York City. You can also get crepes, donuts, fresh pressed juices, kombucha and beer on tap, and all a manner of sweets and other treats. Try to pick up some fresh ingredients for your Sunday night dinner while you’re there, too! Run, don’t walk to Saturday Market, happening from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every week in Park Blocks until Nov. 11.
Sunday
YOU. In the music world, they say “never miss a Sunday show.” I say, never miss a Sunday meal! This is the best night of the week to cook. Ideally you have a full fridge and all afternoon to prep. Let your creative side come out and try a new recipe or ingredient. The best part? Leftovers for lunch on Monday, of course.
