The Women of Oregon will head back to Hayward Field with 15 national qualifiers and their eye on a national title. The Ducks added 11 new entries at the NCAA First Round in Fayetteville, Ark. last week including defending 100m hurdles champion Aaliyah McCormick and the 1500m trio of Juliet Cherubet, Silan Ayyildiz and Wilma Nielsen. Here’s who Oregon is sending to the National Championships:
Aaliyah McCormick, 100-meter hurdles
In Fayetteville, McCormick broke the school record at Oregon with a time of 12.44 — the joint-seventh fastest in NCAA history — in her qualifying effort. McCormick won both the 2025 outdoor and 2026 indoor national high hurdles titles and ran a new all-conditions best (12.43) at the Big Ten Championships in Nebraska in May.
Micaela de Mello, 100-meter hurdles
De Mello won her qualifying heat in 12.75 (+2.7) to secure her spot in Eugene. It’s her third time at the NCAA Championships. The senior was third at the Big Ten Championships in May. Before transferring to Oregon this year, she was a three-time NCAA Championships qualifier.
Brazil Neal, Amirah Shaheed, Lakely Doht-Barron, Lily Jones, 4×100-meter relay
The Ducks didn’t qualify any individual sprinters, but will send the group back to Eugene after they got the baton around in 44.30 in Arkansas. Senior Lily Jones, now a four-time national qualifier, is Oregon’s anchor leg.
Silan Ayyildiz, 1500-meter
Last time out: Ayyildiz ran 4:08.16 to qualify fourth in her race at the First Round. She’s one of the Ducks’ three qualifiers in the 1500m, and a former indoor and outdoor collegiate record holder in the mile. She’s run just four 1500m races this outdoor season, but remains a dominant force in the middle-distance scene. She was a World Championships qualifier in 2025 and won the 2026 Big Ten indoor titles in both the mile and 5000m.
Wilma Nielsen, 1500-meter
Nielsen was the second-best Oregon finisher in the 1500m qualifier with a season-best, third-place 4:07.87. Another 2025 World Championships qualifier, Nielsen’s two-year Oregon career has been star-studded. She was also a collegiate indoor mile record holder and won both the Big Ten and NCAA indoor mile titles this season to defend her 2024 indoor national mile win. Nielsen was fifth in the Big Ten outdoor 1500m final.
Juliet Cherubet, 1500-meter, 5000-meter
Cherubet was the top Oregon qualifier from the 1500m race in Fayetteville, with a personal-best 4:07.75. She’s now the seventh-fastest woman of Oregon in the race all-time. Later that day, she took a sixth-place finish in the 5000m race (15:28.61 season best) to double up on bids. Cherubet won the 2026 Big Ten outdoor 1500m title in 4:16.53 and finished eighth in the 5000m. Earlier this season, she took second overall at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships.
Diana Cherotich, 10,000-meter
Cherotich, the 2025 Big Ten outdoor 10000m champion, qualified for the 2026 NCAA meet with a 10th-place time at the First Round of 32:31.58. Her 5000m effort put her in 18th place. This season, Cherotich has only two 10000m races under her belt, and did not finish her Big Ten outdoor race. She took second in the 5000m at the Big Ten indoor meet, 10th at the NCAA meet and won the Big Ten Cross Country individual title.
Cassandra Atkins, Triple jump
Atkins needed a huge performance after entering the final round of jumps in 18th place, and got it with a new personal-best 13.73m (45-0.5) to move into fourth and secure her spot at Hayward Field. A sophomore, Atkins was third in the triple jump at Big Ten Outdoors after winning the event at the Stanford Invitational. She finished sixth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships and second at last year’s Big Ten Outdoor meet.
Sharifa Davronova, Triple jump
Davronova put herself in position to qualify early with a 13.92m (45-8w +2.6) first-round jump and didn’t budge from the top spot.
Alicia Khunou, Shot put, discus
Khunou is another double-qualifier for the Ducks after she threw 56.16m (184-3) in the discus and qualified in the shot put with a 16.58m (54-4 3/4) throw. A freshman, this is her first outdoor NCAA competition.
Marie Josee Bovele-Linaka, Discus
Bovele-Linaka finished fourth overall with a 57.59m (188-11) throw to ensure she’ll compete in Eugene after claiming an outdoor title in Lincoln, Nebraska, earlier this season. The sophomore debuted for the Ducks this outdoor season and won the event at three regular-season meets.
Greyson Glivinski, Javelin
An eighth-place finish booked the freshman’s place in her first national meet. The Silverton, Oregon, product finished 11th at Big Ten Outdoors and threw a season-best 52.63m (172-8) mark at the First Round.
Liisa-Maria Lusti, Heptathlon
Lusti qualified in the heptathlon as the sixth-best declared athlete in the nation. Multisport athletes do not compete in the first round. She posted her best mark of the season at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, a 5917-point, second-place performance.
