Campaign Oregon raised $853 million dollars from approximately 90,000 people, far exceeding the $600 million goal set at its start in 2001. University President Dave Frohnmayer announced the final numbers at a press conference at Johnson Hall on Friday.
According to the campaign’s Web site, $250 million will be committed to improving academic and athletic facilities and another $55 million donated to the science program.
Private donations to the campaign have more than doubled the amount of student scholarships, creating more opportunities for future students. The donations to student scholarships will increase possibilities for existing scholarships, as well as create new scholarship programs such as PathwayOregon.
Not only will the success of Campaign Oregon be seen through the building of new facilities, but through the growth and achievement of the students. On Friday morning, Frohnmayer thanked alumni and friends for “placing their faith in the university.”
