The ASUO has begun the process of requiring any program it funds to bear its logo.
Last Friday, Senate agreed to include in its rules that all printed material of approved special request events will include the ASUO logo. This is the first step in a gradual plan to increase student awareness of what students’ incidental fee money funds. The plan will be implemented over the next few years.
On Thursday, Programs Administrator Conrad Hulen presented the plan to a representative of all of the programs at the Programs Council Meeting.
“The bottom line of why we’re doing this is to create a culture of collaboration and understanding,” Hulen said.
He also explained the new procedure of special request requirements and the plan to incorporate the logo into program rules in the coming year. As of right now, there is no date projected for the implementation into all programs’ rules.
The execution date is “really going to be dependent on the kind of input we get,” Hulen said. He said the first priority is that “all concerns are being addressed in order to create something that everyone’s on board with.”
The plan aims to “make sure that students who are not familiar with the plethora of groups on campus begin to understand the events and groups that their money is going toward.”
Senate President Nick Gower said the plan for the logo is a “collaborative effort, working together in the implementation of executive and Senate.”
