Eight dead in Beirut blast
A bomb exploded in the Christian section of Beirut, Lebanon and killed eight, including Lebanese security official, Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hassan, reports The New York Times.
The blast also wounded dozens and counting.
Five hour evacuation at Texas A&M
Texas A&M University campus was evacuated after it received a bomb threat on Friday at 11:30 a.m. by email, reports Boston.com.
Police continued searching buildings for bombs until 4 p.m. People were allowed to come back on campus for evening activities on campus.
Obama’s support decreases in Ohio
Barack Obama has a 46-43 percent edge over Republican candidate in Ohio, Mitt Romney, which is less than what was last month with 49-42 percent, reported Fox News.
Obama is down 10 points with Ohio independents, eight points with women and six points with voters under 35.
North Korea threatens South Korea due to propaganda
North Korea threatened to attack South Korea on Friday upon hearing of South Korea’s leaflet campaign, where they send balloons with leaflets, criticizing the North Korean regime, across the border, reported The New York Times.
South Korea says its military will strike back if North Korea proceeds with the attack.
Turkey and Egypt seek to form an alliance
Turkey’s border conflict with Syria and Egypt’s political and economical troubles prompted the two countries turned to each other for support, reported The New York Times.
Turkey offered Egypt a $2 billion aid package and both countries finished joint naval exercises in the Mediterranean Sea. Both countries are considering lifting visa restrictions.
