Oregon third baseman Jenna Lilley added to her impressive freshman season Saturday against Utah. Lilley, the third leading hitter for the Ducks, went 2-for-2 with two RBI’s and a run scored, leading Oregon to a 4-2 win over Utah in Salt Lake City.
The Ducks (24-3, 4-0 in Pac-12) struck in the first inning when Lilley singled in Alyssa Gillespie for the lead.
Lilley got her second RBI in the third inning when she tripled to score Janie Takeda. She eventually scored on a single by Janelle Lindvall for the 3-0 lead.
Nikki Udria got Oregon’s final RBI in sixth inning when she hit a sacrifice fly that scored Lexy Beaudrie-Pierson. Beaudrie-Pierson pinch-ran for Gerin Ann Glasco after Glasco singled earlier in the frame.
The defense still proves to be Oregon’s major flaw as the Ducks gave up two runs in the seventh inning, both unearned. Oregon committed two errors in that frame.
Cheridan Hawkins threw a complete game for the Ducks, giving up six hits in 7.0 innings. Hawkins finished with four strikeouts and no earned runs.
The Ducks return to action tomorrow when they face the Utes at 1 p.m.
