The No. 2 Oregon Ducks, despite winning the third and fourth sets of this top 25 matchup, could not pull off a rally against the No. 17 California Golden Bears and subsequently lost in the fifth set 13-15. The Ducks went into the locker room down 0-2 at half time but returned and showed they were not going down without a fight. And fight they did. Led by redshirt senior outside hitter Alaina Bergsma and sophomore outside hitter Liz Brenner, who had 25 and 26 kills respectively, the Ducks attempted and nearly succeeded in a three set comeback.
The back-and-fourth fifth set saw both the Ducks and the Golden Bears lash it out until the very end. The Golden Bears won off back-to-back kills.
Oregon looks to avenge their only other loss of the season this Sunday where they host No. 1 Stanford.
