Southtowne Lanes (25th Avenue and Willamette Street)
Just a mile and a half from campus, Southtowne Lanes, noted for its good music selection, offers a fun atmosphere with 16 lanes and four pool tables. The alley also has concessions with bar-style seating, a café and a variety of foods to satisfy your hunger at any hour.
Monday nights are the best deals, with $2 games per person. Regular prices are $3.23 before 6 p.m. and $4.25 during the rest of the evening. Shoe rentals are always $2.
Strike City (Highway 99)
Famous for its cosmic bowling, Strike City on Highway 99 has 24 lanes and a large video game room that appeals to a variety of ages. They also have a snack station with a full-service bar. Prices fall at $3 per game per person, and cosmic bowling, which is Fridays and Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., costs $4 per game per person. Right next to Putters, a miniature golf and pizza fun center, Strike City offers a variety of games to play in one night. Strike City is the perfect alley for college students: open late, with College Night on Thursdays. By showing your student ID you can play $2 per person per game. Shoe rentals are always $2.50.
Emerald Lanes (Oakway Road)
A mere five-minute drive from campus, Emerald Lanes has a clean, friendly atmosphere for a fun time with friends. Open most days from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., its restaurant, Emerald Grill, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rates are $2.25 before 6 p.m. and $2.75 after 6 p.m. It is open until midnight Fridays and Saturdays for $3 per person per game. With 24 lanes, this bowling alley sees a lot of college students with its close proximity to campus and wallet-friendly deals. Special deals, which cost only $1.75 per person per game, fall on Wednesdays and Fridays before 6 p.m. Shoe rentals are $2.
Firs Bowling Alley (River Road)
A quaint bowling alley that offers a family-fun atmosphere for very low prices resides on River Road. Open as early as 9 a.m., this bowling alley has it all: 24 lanes, video games, a built-in diner serving breakfast (until noon), lunch foods and a variety of snacks, and even cosmic bowling.
Games on Monday through Friday before 6 p.m. will only cost you $2 and after 6 p.m., cost only $2.50. Cosmic bowling starts at 9:30 p.m., and is $10 per person for as many games as you can play. Shoe rentals are $1.75. This bowling alley has potential for a fun night out without emptying your pockets. Firs is off River Road, just south of Beltline Highway.
