Oregon’s elite offensive attack gained another weapon Thursday night as wide receiver Evan Stewart has announced his transfer to the University of Oregon.
Stewart, who tallied 514 yards and four touchdowns for Texas A&M in 2023 was the No. 2 player in the transfer portal according to 247sports.
Stewart’s commitment comes as another recruiting win for the Ducks as head coach Dan Lanning recently reaffirmed his commitment to Oregon amid speculation he would accept the Alabama coaching job after legendary coach Nick Saban retired.
“If you’re scared your coach is leaving, then come play for us,” Lanning tweeted Thursday morning. “The Ducks aren’t going anywhere, and I’m not leaving.”
Stewart becomes Oregon’s eighth transfer portal addition this offseason, joining UTSA starting cornerback Kam Alexander, Kansas State starting safety Kobe Savage, Oklahoma starting QB Dillon Gabriel, Indiana starting offensive lineman Matthew Beford, Oregon State kicker Atticus Sappington, UCLA QB Dante Moore, and Northwest Missouri State running back Jay Harris.
As a potential replacement for Troy Franklin, Stewart will join a talented wide receiver corps that includes returning playmakers Tez Johnson, Traeshon Holden, and Gary Bryant Jr.
