The parquet floor has no idea what it’s in for when The Rapture and Shiny Toy Guns bring their dance-friendly grooves to WOW Hall this Monday.
Both bands are riding waves of good press following the releases of The Rapture’s “Pieces of the People We Love” and Shiny Toy Guns’ “We Are Pilots” in 2006, and bring their combined energy to Eugene near the beginning of a cross-country tour.
The Rapture specializes in funky bass lines and disco beats, and the reaction this dance rock excellence tends to elicit is summed up best in the title of the new album’s first single “Whoo! Alright Yeah…Uh Huh.”
Shiny Toy Guns falls on the darker side of radio-friendly dance music, dealing in deep bass, screaming, noisy synths, and thumping drums. Notable tracks include the single “Le Disko.”
It might seem wrong to get this sweaty dancing before dark, but fans of dance music will not want to miss either act. The show begins at 7p.m., and tickets are $16 in advance or $18 at the door.
