The Hong Kong Student Association sought to blend eastern and western culture Sunday evening in the EMU ballroom by combining traditional Chinese cuisine with rap performances and dance.
“Hong Kong is constantly evolving. It combines the best of eastern culture with the best of western culture,” said Karen Fan, vice president of the Hong Kong Student Association.
Two HKSA volunteers had their purses stolen during the event, prompting police to swarm the second floor of the EMU. The students, sophomores Kelly Pavey and Katie Sinner, lost cellular phones, cameras, credit cards, cash and keys, HKSA president Melody Young said.
“It went pretty well, aside from the one sour note,” Young said of Hong Kong night.
