Cross country and track runner, Molly Grabill,@@directory@@ was released from Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield this afternoon after suffering injuries in a car accident on Monday night, according to the University of Oregon.
Ducks’ cross country spokesman Greg Walker@@directory@@ said that Grabill had a broken jawbone and cuts to her face that required stiches. He said she will need some dental and orthodontic work but no surgery. She suffered no other broken bones or internal injuries, he said.
While Grabill was driving on Interstate 5, a rock thrown from an overpass hit her car and broke the windshield.@@checkedlink@@ She was transported by ambulance to the hospital, according to Oregon State Police. Also in the car was Oregon cross country and track runner, Chris Brewer,@@directory@@ who was treated and released for minor injuries Monday night.
Brewer released a statement thanking people for their support. “Our families, friends and teammates have been great just being there for us and taking care of whatever we need.”
