On Saturday, the Ducks obliterated the Colorado Buffaloes and moved ahead of Louisiana Tech to become the highest-scoring team in the country. It still wasn’t enough to impress the Bowl Championship Series computers.
No. 2 Florida lost to Georgia, but No. 5 Notre Dame beat Oklahoma — a much more impressive win in terms of strength of schedule. The win was enough to move the Fighting Irish ahead of the Ducks in the BCS.
The good news for the Ducks is that three of their remaining four games are against teams in the BCS Top 25, with No. 17 USC, No. 14 Stanford and No. 11 Oregon State still on the horizon. The Ducks’ early-season win over Arizona also looks a little better with the Wildcats breaking into the rankings at No. 22 after upsetting USC.
