Record number of Oregon schools ranked as “needs improvement”
State report cards released this week show a record 10 percent of schools in need of improvement, according to The Oregonian. This could be in large part because the state is changing its ranking process, increasing the difficulty for elementary school state tests and raising minimum requirements for high school graduation.
East Multnomah County schools were largely ranked satisfactory. The Oregon Department of Education ranks schools based on student attendance and participation as well as students who passed or made significant improvement on state tests.
