You know, I’m really not surprised that conflicts of interest have become a problem in the ASUO (“Grievance filed against Sen. Gulley,” ODE, Mar. 2). The fact is, it is usually pretty clear that the student government’s main concern is with keeping its bloated self in business with student cash. I am disgusted that the surplus of student fees isn’t getting put right back where it came from. That money needs to be returned to students. If I overpay any of my other bills, I get a refund. If I overpay my taxes … refund. It’s so simple. So, instead of using the extra money to fund your resume-padding trip to Washington D.C., how about doing something that makes sense for once in your life and issue refunds to the students who are paying you to represent them in the first place?
