Former Oregon Ducks receiver Troy Franklin will continue his career in the pros after he was drafted by the Denver Broncos with the 102nd overall pick in the 4th round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday. Franklin leaves Autzen Stadium with his name scrawled all over the Ducks’ record books, and will compete off the bat in the league.
Franklin set Ducks records in 2023 for single-season receiving touchdowns, with 14 and receiving yards, with 1,383, to go along with the Oregon career record for the same (25 touchdowns and 2,483 yards). He emerged as an aggressive, dominant receiver in offensive coordinator Will Stein’s offense who served as the primary outlet for Bo Nix’s ability. He repeatedly burned defenders — just take a look at the tape from his 84-yard touchdown against USC in November 2023 — and it’s that ability to outpace and outwork defenders that had his name called in Detroit.
The Broncos currently roster several veteran receivers, including Courtland Sutton. Franklin will have the chance to jockey for position with those players throughout preseason for a slot on the roster alongside his college quarterback (Nix was drafted by Denver with the 12th overall pick).
