Students fill amphitheater to hear The Coup.
More than 200 people filled the EMU Amphitheater on Tuesday afternoon to hear the Oakland-based hip-hop band The Coup.
Music echoed off the side of Collier House and Pacific Hall as the crew, fronted by twosome of Boots Riley and DJ Pam, kept the crowd bouncing for more than an hour. The hip-hop artists are touring their latest release, “Party Music.”
The free concert was scheduled after the Dead Prez canceled their McDonald Theatre show because of a “family emergency” within the band, MCC programs adviser Steve Morozumi said.
After the show, nearly 30 people attended a question-and-answer session with Boots Riley in the MCC.
