Another day, another talking head predicting the Ducks will be in the national title game in January. This time it’s Brad Edwards making the trendy pick for a LSU vs Oregon national title game, while Mark Schlabach’s crystal ball still has Chip Kelly’s Ducks making a fourth straight BCS bowl appearance with another rematch from last season with the Ducks playing Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.
The college football offseason may be even longer for Oregon State’s players and fans. With the Beavers slated to open up on Saturday against Nicholls State, Hurricane Isaac poses a slim but real threat of delaying the game, with the Thibodaux, Lousiana based Colonels already being forced to cancel this week’s practice during the storm. The team is scheduled to arrive on Friday, but their travel plans may be altered by the storm.
If you believe everything you read online, you’d think the Ducks national title hopes were over before they began thanks to a shocking upset by UCLA. The accidentally published dummy story from the Associated Press led to well over 1,000 news outlets to report that the Bruins, led by equally fictional quarterback Bob Jones stunned Oregon 21-20 despite the fact the two teams don’t play this season.
While Chip Kelly has long talked about the Ducks ‘faceless opponents’ that’s not to say he and his staff don’t scout their opponents, but prepping for Oregon’s season opener has been tough with the Red Wolves new coaching staff, Rob Moseley reports.
Tweet of the Day
