Koski: My name is Sarah Koski. My last name is spelled k-o-s-k-i.
Emerald: And could you tell me your year in school and your major?
Koski: I am a currently a freshman, I’ll be a sophomore this term. And my major, I’m double majoring in political science and international studies.
Emerald: And why are you running for this position in ASPAC?
Koski: I am running for this position because I feel that a lot of people who are running with me are running for their own personal interest and I feel that I have a very eclectic viewpoint of the University and I represent a lot of interests in student groups and I would like to be chosen to represent the University and not just a certain faction.
Emerald: And what other activities are you involved in?
Koski: I am involved in the Robert D. Clark Honors College. I am a presidential scholar and I am vice-president of the Presidential Scholars Student Association. I am also part of University College Democrats.
Emerald: So could you tell me a little about what your committee does and why it’s important? The committee that you’re running for?
Koski: What it does is, it’s a committee to talk directly to the president and that is going straight to the source. So, if students have any concerns or any needs, working with president Frohnmayer is the one way to get those needs solved and resolved.
Emerald: And why do you think this is important?
Koski: I feel this is important because there’s a lot of issues, especially women’s issues, whether or not to have alcohol on campus or the actual enforcement of minors in possession and DUIs. I think those important issues that are not focused, that the faculty is looking on, but the students really know about and need to get directly to the president to talk about.
Emerald: So actually my next question was, what do you think are the most important issues affecting students that you’re going to represent?
Koski: I think safety on campus. I think quality of life in the residence halls and let’s see, I think just basically interactions between student groups. I think student groups are in their own course and I think there needs to be more communication between everybody.
Emerald: Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Koski: I don’t think so.
