Alleged gang leader arrested in Costco parking lot
Eugene police arrested Beau Heleman Flynn@@see link —>@@ in the parking lot of Costco on Thursday after the suspect had violated his parole @@checked@@by being within Lane County.
Flynn played a crucial role in Eugene’s first gang related murder and had just been released from prison in September after being charged with a felony in 2009, according the The Register-Guard.
Officers followed Flynn into the Costco parking lot Thursday, and when it became apparent that Flynn might attempt to escape, the officers threw a percussion grenade at him — a tool that causes a loud noise and a bright flash of light — which immediately distracted Flynn and allowed officers to arrest him.
Voter turnout down this year
Voter turnout all over the state of Oregon has gone down compared with the rates in 2008. Lane Country’s turnout this year was only 74 percent @@checked@@after being 88 percent in 2008.
Early results showed that Oregon’s voter turnout was 81 percent, but this number shrank to 75 percent on Thursday, according to KEZI.
New idea for Civic Stadium
After the Eugene Emeralds played their last game in Civic Stadium in 2009, owners of the property have been looking at multiple options for potentially leasing or selling the property.
The newest idea would be to convert the 10.2-acre property into a semiprofessional soccer arena @@checked@@that would be home to Lane United FC — a club that would have to be put together in the future, according to The Register-Guard.
Hunt for Albany man underway
Albany Police are looking for a suspect that attacked a man with a knife in Albany on Wednesday. The 42-year-old man, Jade Berry, ran from the scene when police arrived, according to KEZI.
A judge has issued a felony warrant for Berry’s arrest.
