The Global Scholars Hall will hold its grand opening Tuesday to celebrate being the first new residence hall to open since 2006.
“The building includes multiple classrooms, a library commons area, music practice rooms, presentation practice rooms and even a demonstration kitchen,” according to an University of Oregon news release.
The grand opening of the 185,000-square-foot building will be held at the residence hall from 10 a.m. until noon on Oct. 30 and will have a couple of guest speakers including UO president Michael Gottfredson@@http://president.uoregon.edu/biography@@ and vice president for student affairs Robin Holmes@@http://vpsa.uoregon.edu/biography@@.
In addition, guests are encouraged to bring items that they “believe celebrate the excellence of the present-day University of Oregon” that could be included in a time capsule.
