Portland Marathon
More than 11,000 people participated in the 42nd annual Portland Marathon on Sunday morning, reported KGW.
Jameson Mora from Arroyo Grande, Calif. and Colleen Little from Lake Oswego, Ore. were the male and female marathon winners, with 2:21:09 and 2:51:35 respectively.
Occupy Portland, one year later
More than 300 Occupy Portland protestors crowded downtown Portland streets on Saturday to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the local demonstration, reported The Oregonian. No arrests were made that afternoon.
Hiker dies on Central Oregon trail
Robert Wayne Powell, a 69-year-old man from Sisters, Ore., collapsed and died while on a Central Oregon hike with two others, reported the Associated Press.
The other two hikers, both 19, attempted to revive him by performing CPR until medics arrived.
Incident on Lewis and Clark Bridge
A man who was working on the Lewis and Clark Bridge fell into the Columbia River on Sunday morning and is presumed drowned, reported KGW. US Coast Guard stopped the search at 2:20 p.m.
An investigation is still in progress to how the incident happened.
Oregon’s great pumpkin
Pleasant Hill’s Steve Daletas won the Bauman Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off in Gervais, Ore. on Saturday, with his 1,779 pound pumpkin, reported The Oregonian.
Daletas’ pumpkin broke the state record, making it the largest pumpkin in Oregon and third largest pumpkin of the United States.
