Despite receiving an indefinite suspension following a DUII incident this week, Oregon defensive tackle Isaac Remington has been a full participant in practice, according to teammates.
It’s unclear whether the Queen Creek, Ariz., native will play Thursday against the Sun Devils.
Eugene police spokeswoman Jenna McCulley told reporters that Remington, 23, was stopped by Eugene Police just after 12:30 a.m. at Kincaid Street and 12th Avenue, west of campus. The officer stopped Remington to “investigate a violation.”
After undergoing field-sobriety tests, Remington was taken into custody on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. Hours later, he was suspended by head coach Chip Kelly “pending clarification.”
But fellow defensive linemen told The Oregonian that Remington went through his usual drills at the top of the rotation.
“We stayed the same and everybody was out there competing,” freshman Arik Armstead said. Earlier in the week, defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti had said Armstead would be the main beneficiary of playing time in Remington’s absence.
“We’re going to see more of Armstead,” Aliotti told a Portland radio station. “He’s in the rotation, and Arik’s played good football for us.”
Keep your eyes on who’s in the trenches for Oregon when Arizona State takes possession Thursday night.
