Due to its literal title, you can correctly assume what “Man on a Ledge” is about before entering the theater.@@and how it ends, thanks to the end of this review @@ It’s the story of ex-cop and fugitive Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington)@@http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0941777/@@ whose assumed suicide attempt of jumping off a ledge and into the streets of New York is slowly revealed to be something much more.@@i did not think that at all. i thought the movie was about just a man on a ledge@@
It seems, at first, that Cassidy is adamant about jumping off the ledge and into the sea of people beneath him. However, a series of seemingly odd decisions lead police negotiator Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks)@@http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006969/@@ to decipher whether the mysterious Cassidy is in fact suicidal or his actions are part of a bigger plan.
And that “bigger plan” has to do with Cassidy’s former life as a prominent NYPD cop who was convicted of stealing from ruthless businessman David Englander (Ed Harris).@@cool…ed harris is a badass http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000438/@@ As a result, Cassidy pays the price of a lengthy prison sentence. But with the help of his brother Joey (Jaime Bell)@@http://news.moviefone.com/2012/01/19/man-on-a-ledge-sam-worthington_n_1217438.html@@ and Joey’s girlfriend, Angie (Genesis Rodriguez),@@http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1270009/@@ he seeks redemption.
Bell and Rodriguez bring comedy and surprise to the thriller and are definitely the best part of the movie. Their acting, among the rest of the cast, is believable, which is odd considering they’re just an everyday, normal couple who accomplish feats only Indiana Jones could ever dream of doing.@@you don’t know what you are talking about@@ And they do just that through a series of close calls and hilarious but light-hearted relationship mockery.
Even the acting on Sam Worthington’s part is also quite believable, considering every time he reappears on the screen, heart rates increase and viewers scoot to the edge of their seat awaiting his “suicide.”
Director Asger Leth@@http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1300606/@@ keeps each scene in the film action-packed, which manages to hold the viewer’s interest. And as previously stated, Bell and Rodriguez add comedic elements to the decent but unfortunately predictable thriller.@@movies like this make me wonder if they are worth a b+ @@
