Oregon (5-3, 2-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) will play Longwood (0-4) at 7 p.m. on Papé Field. Before that match, Colgate will battle Vermont at 5 p.m.
The Ducks were defeated by the Lancers 15-10 in Farmville, Va., last season. Oregon, however, is on a five-game winning streak at home, stretching from last season’s 9-8 consolation victory against California in the MPSF Tournament hosted by the Ducks to Oregon’s 20-12 victory over Vermont on Monday. Sophomore Ilsa van den Berg scored five goals and added two assists in the victory to maintain her spot as the team’s leader in points with 25. Junior Theresa Waldron’s eight points against the Catamounts, off five assists and a hat trick, gave her 22 points on the year, second only behind van den Berg. The 32 combined goals in the battle versus Vermont was just three shy of the Papé Field record, which was set against St. Bonaventure last Saturday in the Ducks’ 20-15 win.
In Longwood’s most recent match, it lost 20-9 to Denver at home on March 4.
The Ducks’ home stand will conclude against Colgate on Saturday at 1 p.m., after Vermont and Longwood play each other at 11 a.m. Admission to the non-Oregon matches is free to all.
The Ducks will hit the road next weekend to play John Hopkins in Baltimore, and will then move to New York to compete against Columbia and Stony Brook.
