San Diego was a blast. My team went 11-0 and won the tournament. Apart
from
the drunken ladies on our flight down, one on whom peed in her seat,
and the
security breach in Sacramento that closed down the airport, the
tournament
itself was pretty straightforward. You have the basic panty point by
some of
the women’s team. The unfortunate party that was lame and not worth
staying
30 minutes. The sun, the sick layouts and the crazy grabs that will be
talked
about for a long time to come. Now comes the time to get even better
and wipe
out the competition at Stanford next week.
The one interesting thing about leaving for a tournament is coming
back. I
was gone from Friday until very late Monday. The only time that school
or
anything outside of ultimate was thought about was on the flight to and
from
San Diego. Otherwise our worlds were narrow-minded and had one focus.
Coming
back you feel like you’ve been gone a week and trying to figure out
what has
happened since you left because you almost feel alienated. But, within
a day
you’re back in the swing of things and wishing you were still in San
Diego
playing disc.
I can almost touch the end. Although there are still three weeks left
I’m
thinking about nothing but spring break and this summer. I know the
summer
isn’t for quite awhile, but I’m still trying to figure out what the
hell I’m
going to do. I want to work, but not necessarily here, and I haven’t
figured
out where quite yet. I’ll make more money staying here, but it would be
much
more fun to leave Eugene.
I feel like I’m caught in this crossfire. On one hand I should be
focusing on
school, and on the other I should be looking for a job. But, with work
and
sports
there isn’t time. Seems like I might be struggling with this for
awhile.
In the meantime, it is Friday and I feel like letting loose, something
I often
don’t do because of the amount of practice and working out and work I
sometimes do on a week-to-week basis. But, this could be one of the
only
times this term and should make the most of it. Once a term doesn’t
seem like
that much, but it only makes it that much more fun and relaxing.
