The No. 9 Oregon Women’s Golf team has a real star on the rise.
The current No. 7 ranked individual nationally is a freshman on fire, and a purebred winner.
After winning one tournament in the fall, Kiara Romero began her spring season with a resounding victory at the San Diego State Classic. She shot nine-under through three rounds, which was a 207 overall. It was the fifth-best 54-hole performance in Oregon history.
This tournament included a hole-in-one in a three-under (69) first round.
She shot a 70 in the second round and capped that off with a tremendous 68 in the final round.
Romero was named the Pac-12 Golfer of the Week for the second time in her career on Tuesday, as announced by the conference.
Romero and the Ducks hope to continue their fantastic start to the spring season at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, SC.
