In an event that seemed inevitable, Oregon football head coach Dan Lanning has signed a contract extension with the Ducks according to James Crepea of The Oregonian.
Lanning’s extension comes a week removed from possible speculations for the Texas A&M head coaching gig.
“Everything I want exists right here, I’m not going anywhere. There’s zero chance I would be coaching somewhere else,” Lanning said on Monday in regards to reports of his possible departure from Eugene. “I’ve got unfinished business here. My number one priority is being elite here at Oregon.”
Lanning’s words have been put to paper as his contract now runs with the university through January 2030. This is on top of potential earning bonuses if he wins an 11th regular season game ($200,000), qualifies for the Pac-12 Championship ($100,00) and wins the conference title ($150,000). If the Ducks make it to the College Football Playoffs, there’s additional bonuses as well.
With the Ducks victory over Arizona State, Oregon has tallied three ten-win seasons in a row and will look to continue its winning ways next Friday against Oregon State.
