After tossing aside a purple hoodie, Jericho Johnson grinned into the camera with his Oregon sweatshirt held aloft. The 4-star defensive lineman from Fairfield, California chose the Ducks over offers from Washington, Utah and USC. In his announcement celebration, held the day after National Early Signing Day, he committed his talents to Eugene — in the process placing the capstone on the Ducks’ best-ever recruiting class.
Johnson (6’4’’, 300 lbs) is the No. 9 player in California, and the No. 9 defensive lineman nationally, according to 247Sports. He’ll join an already star-studded Class of 2024 defense: 5-star commits Aydin Breland and Elijah Rushing headlined a successful group for Oregon head coach Dan Lanning.
The No. 8 Ducks shift focus to the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1 — the group will have time off around Christmas Day before flying to Glendale, Arizona to hold team practices and facing No. 23 Liberty in the 10 A.M. PST kickoff.
